In my room.

Currently listening to The Beatles.

No national or international holidays today (according to Google Calendar).

@BCBodnar and I hosted a dinner for a few friends tonight.  It was a success! The food turned out pretty good (@BCBodnar and I made a completely vegetarian dinner: veggie pizza, arugula and romaine salad, potato salad, avocado dip, and blueberry cobbler with ice cream–YUM!), and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I hope we can host another one soon.

Not too long ago, @sara_bee tweeted about moo.com giving away a free pack of sample business cards. I filled out an order and got my sample pack a couple of days ago (I didn’t realize they had arrived at my co-op until this morning)! You get 10 sample cards, and you get to choose any 10 images for one side of the cards. I found all my images on sxc.hu, an AMAZING stock photo website. The upside: the business cards are free. The downside: there’s a moo.com mark on the bottom of each sample card. If you don’t want the mark, you can pay about $6 to have them removed. The cards are pretty cool.

The paper dress that I’m making out of the U-M Student Directory is slowly coming along. I have the top mostly done–it just needs some trimming and assembling.

The list:

1) thisiswhyyourefat.com. The web address says it all.

"The Miles Dog: A hot dog covered with cheese, tomatoes, grilled onions, ketchup, guacamole, and several slices of bacon."

2) Spotted: DC Summer Interns. Probably the most amusing blog I’ve read. Ever.

“This blog is dedicated to those DC residents who dread intern season. Interns swarm in like the Eighth Plague of Egypt (or the cicadas of 2004). Essential to the function of offices in DC, interns are willing to complete tasks that permanent staff are not and are eager to do so. For many interns, this blog will not apply. For those interns for whom it does apply, we hope that you use these anecdotes to change your behavior and, eventually, change the stigma attached to DC interns. *PLEASE NOTE: As with the viral nature of the Internet, many offices are concerned about anonymity and poor reflections upon them – please be assured that no office or individual will ever be singled out. This blog operates under complete anonymity and will never be of a libelous nature; it will never post any identifying information including, but not limited to: place of work or residence, name, or anything else that may identify an individual. We welcome you to submit any absurd intern stories you are bound to acquire. To the interns: please use this blog as a learning tool. Godspeed, my friends, and best of luck this summer.” (from http://dcinterns.blogspot.com/)

3) Target, Anna Sui, and Gossip Girl. Anna Sui is teaming up with the awesome Target to create a Gossip Girl-inspired line of clothes. There are a few dress/outfits each for Blair, Jenny, Vanessa, and Serena. I really like the Blair outfits.

Currently listening to nothing.

Monday flew by.  I can’t believe it’s already Tuesday, and I can’t believe how much studying and reading I have to do.   Err.  Classes just get in the way of everything.

The paper dress that I was working on for my American Culture class isn’t coming along so well, so I’m gonna pitch it and figure something else out.  I’m still planning on using magazines, newspapers and the Student Directory in my project.

THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN MUSEUM OF ART WILL HAVE ITS STUDENT OPENING TOMORROW TODAY AT 8PM! I can’t wait.

The list:

1) No walls, only partitions. Love it.  How do people come up with these things?

“Without compromising on privacy, the 4sides4home is an amazing interior option for those who have small apartments and even smaller families. The concept utilizes the given floor space optimally by doing away with the walls and incorporating partitions instead. Imagine a huge + (plus sign) on the floorplan…”  Continue reading.

4sides4home_22)  CopyPasteCharacter. Ever forget the keyboard shortcut for an accented “a”?  Or need a symbol that just isn’t available in your word processor (like a snowman)?  Have no fear!  CopyPasteCharacter is here!  Just click on the symbol/character you want, and it saves to your clipboard.  Pretty sweet.

in my room

Keeping this blog updated is a lot easier than I thought it was going to be.

My friend and I got a lot accomplished earlier tonight. We spent two hours working on translating our outlines into American Sign Language. Presentations start tomorrow, and I hope to get it out of the way then.

I was looking just looking at my bookshelf and realized that I have a book from the district library that I’ve renewed 14 times! It’s The Memory Keeper’s Daughter and I’ve had it checked out since May 2008. Whoa. I remember that I decided to read this book after a friend told me that it was a good book, and after reading reviews of it in magazines.

My friend was wrong. And so were the magazines. I don’t think the book’s that good. But I got through half of it over the summer (I haven’t touched it since then) and I hate leaving books half-read. I just haven’t had anytime to do some leisure reading. All my time’s taken up by class readings. Err.

Though I wouldn’t necessarily call getting through this book leisure reading.

But I am going to finish that book if it’s the last thing I do, no matter how boring it is. Summer’s not too far away, maybe I’ll pick it up again then.

I need to do my laundry soon. I’m running dangerously low on socks.

The list:

1) What to wear to an interview: A friend introduced me to chictopia.com a couple of months ago and it has quickly become one of my favorite fashion sites. Chictopia.com has five fashion blogs, so you’re sure to find one that fits you. Visit their everybodyisugly blog for great tips on dressing for an interview.

I have their tips bookmarked, and think you should too.

Unless your a guy. Then you probably shouldn’t bookmark these tips. But don’t worry guys, chictopia.com has a blog dedicated just for you! ! Remember, they have five blogs. Visit maleugly for fashion advice.

2) Symbol Signs from AIGA: “The complete set of 50 passenger/pedestrian symbols developed by AIGA is now available on the web, free of charge. Signs are available in EPS and GIF formats.”

I was so excited when I found this on twitter. I’m such a dork.
